The Futures Cup is back in a regional format
On July 15th, DBA Africa put on a friendly round robin tournament for 3 of our Futures Cup Boy's teams, Nairobi Lightening, Nairobi Bulldozers and Rift Valley Lakers, with the Lakers coming out victorious. We also had both Nairobi Bulldozers and Rift Valley Lakers U15 girls teams join us at Kenton College, again, withe Lakers coming out as the double header winners
The first leg of the Futures Cup series tournament was held on August 10th when the South Coast Pirates hosted the matches. Coastal Tsunamis narrowly beat Central Avalanche twice during the day. The atmosphere was electric and some great rugby was played by both teams.
DBA Africa also hosted a tournament in Kakamega, Western, in partnership with Kabras rugby. Western Wanderers, Nyanza Hurricanes and Kampala Giants played a triangular tournament, with Kampala Giants showing skill and determination coming out on top with 2/2 wins. The third and final leg will be played in Nairobi on 8th December between Nairobi Bulldozers, Nairobi Hurricanes and the Rift Valley Lakers. As it stand now, Kampala Giants are leading the Coastal Tsunamis, but the overall winner will be declared on 8th December at the end of the last leg of the 3-series tournament.
On the 8th December, we are also hosting the first every U15 Girls Futures Cup tournament with Western Wanderers, Central Avalanche, Nairobi Bulldozers and the Rift Valley Lakers.
After this 3 Futures Cup tournaments, the DBA selectors, who will have been present scouting at all 3 tournaments, will select a 27 man Dream Team to train for the next 4 months before touring Uganda in April 2025 as the U16 Futures Cup Team.
