The Futures Cup gets off to a flying start

On Friday, 14 July 2023, over 250 junior rugby players, selected from over 1000, came together at St Christopher's school in Nairobi for the first of its kind 15-a-side rugby tournament.  Eight U15 regional teams from Central, Coastal, Rift Valley, 2 Nairobi and a team from Kampala, Uganda have started competing, with the final match deciding the winner to take place on Sunday the 16th.

DBA Africa's rugby Ambassador, Andrew Amonde, said of the Futures Cup "the tournament will expose these kids to a higher level of competition, driving them to ultimately become better players." The beaming smiles on these kids faces says it all - how exciting and how amazing to be part of this tournament.

DBA Africa have been working with coaches across Kenya and Uganda to pull off the future of rugby in East Africa.  We need to make sure this is not a one-off but that this will build and grow, and we hope we have the continued support of the Kenya and Uganda rugby unions and World Rugby as well.
