More Than Sport

At DBA Africa, we believe sport has the power to transform lives.

Our academies are more than places to play, they are safe, supportive spaces where young people build confidence, gain life skills, and grow as leaders.

Sport is a proven tool for development. It promotes wellbeing, strengthens communities, and creates opportunities for youth to thrive.

DBA WaziWazi Rugby academy

Our Nairobi based Academy provides regular rugby training, life skills, and leadership development for boys and girls aged 8-18. The Rugby Academy is a safe space where young athletes learn both on and off the pitch, supported by qualified coaches and mentors who care about their growth as players and as people.

Our Academy partners WaziWazi, share our vision of using rugby as a tool for social development, while also recognising the talents and promise Kenya has as a Rugby Nation.

Lacrosse academy

DBA Africa is proud to champion one of the most exciting and innovative youth sports initiatives: the Uganda Lacrosse Academy.

Based in Kampala and led by players from Uganda’s National Men’s Team, the academy introduces young people to the unique and fast-paced game of lacrosse.

Beyond the game itself, the academy serves as a tool for social development, providing a positive environment for young people to grow, connect, and lead. For talented athletes, it also offers a pathway to international opportunities, with two Ugandan players currently pursuing lacrosse scholarships in the United States.

Support for Regional Academies

DBA Africa believes in strengthening existing community structures, not competing with them.

Across Kenya and Uganda, we partner with grassroots sports academies to provide training support, equipment, and development resources, helping local organisations to thrive in their own communities.

This approach reflects global development guidelines, including the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which recognise the power of sport to promote good health, quality education, gender equality, and stronger, more inclusive communities.

Meet Our Sports Ambassador: Andrew Amonde

Kenya Rugby Sevens legend, former captain, and Olympian, Andrew Amonde is a proud ambassador for DBA Africa’s youth development work.

With a career built on discipline, leadership, and resilience, Andrew now works directly with our academies to mentor the next generation of athletes. His passion for giving back and developing young talent embodies everything DBA Africa stands for.
