Rayvon Ambale, a rising star from Butula High School in Kakamega, Western Kenya, is now shining on international grounds, thanks to a sports scholarship facilitated by DBA Africa. As he kicks off his second year at Bryanston School in the UK, his journey continues to inspire.
From humble beginnings in Kakamega County to representing Kenya (as the first) at the U18 Bath Rugby Academy, Rayvon has risen through the ranks to become a beacon of hope for aspiring athletes. DBA Africa's Partnerships with UK Schools

These collaborations aim to create pathways for talented athletes like Rayvon to excel in academics and sports. Bryanston School, renowned for its strong rugby tradition, has provided Rayvon with a platform to hone his skills under the guidance of Nick Williams, a former professional rugby player with a 16-year career. Williams has been instrumental in Rayvon’s development on the field which saw him selected in the Bath Rugby u18 Academy last year.
Another key partnership is with Kingsley School, where DBA Coach Hassan Ali is currently completing a six-month coaching exchange. Additionally Kingsley Provide resources to DBA Africa to facilitate the yearly under 13 Rugby Tournament named ‘The Kingsley Cup’. These initiatives demonstrate DBA’s commitment to fostering global sports connections while elevating Kenyan talent on international stages.

Rayvon’s journey began with standout performances at Butula High School, where he dominated the 2022 Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) games. His exceptional skill earned him the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award and top try scorer honors. These achievements caught the eye of DBA scouts, who saw his potential to excel on a larger stage.
Through rigorous training and mentorship, Rayvon has transitioned from local tournaments to international competitions. At Bryanston, he has had to adapt to British weather and rugby styles, whilst also facing cultural challenges and adjustments in curriculum and classroom subjects. His call-up to the U18 Bath Academy squad marked the first time a junior from Kenya has been able to gain such valuable experience at such a young age.
