DBA Futures Cup Dream Team Set for Historic Uganda Tour

The DBA Futures Cup Dream Team is gearing up for an exciting rugby tour, marking a historic first as they travel to Uganda. The team, made up of the top performers from last year’s DBA Futures Cup, represents the best young rugby talent in Kenya. This junior rugby tour will see the squad play three games, helping to develop their skills and rewarding them for the talent and hard work they have put in on the sports field.

A True Kenyan Representative Side

The DBA Futures Cup Dream Team is a unique selection, bringing together players from all seven regional teams that compete in the annual tournament. The squad is a perfect blend of Kenya’s rich rugby culture, with players from public schools, private international schools, and rugby academies.

This diverse selection reflects the strength of sports development initiatives like the Futures Cup, showcasing the depth of young talent across different backgrounds, regardless of the economic environment they were brought up in.

The Road to Uganda – Fixtures & Journey

The team will have a pre-tour Training camp for 2 nights at St Christophers international school, before they depart for Uganda.

The squad will follow in the footsteps of classic junior rugby tours, traveling by bus through Rift Valley and Western Kenya before crossing the border into Uganda. Along the way, they stop to face some of the best junior rugby teams in the region.

For most of the squad, this will be their first trip outside Kenya, making it a memorable experience both on and off the field.

Fixture List:

🏉 9th April –  vs Nakuru DBA Academy Select (Kenya)

🏉 12th April – vs Kyadondo Rugby Club (Uganda)

🏉 13th April – vs RAMS Academy (Uganda)

This tour offers young players the opportunity to test themselves against other junior rugby teams, gain experience playing in different conditions, and learn valuable lessons on and off the field.

Why This Tour Matters

This tour is a major milestone for DBA Africa and its commitment to developing young rugby talent. The opportunity to participate in an international tour helps players improve their game, build confidence, and gain exposure to different styles of play.

It is hoped that many of these players will go on to represent Kenya at higher levels, continuing the country’s strong rugby legacy in Africa and beyond.

By organising such tours, DBA Africa is strengthening its rugby academy programmes, creating pathways for young players to excel, and ensuring that sports development in Kenya continues to thrive.

The sides captain will be named in the upcoming camp, while they will be coached by renowned coaches with Kenya Cup experience, Patrice Agunda and Amady Diallo.
