At the beginning of the year, Willy Ambaka represented Kenya 7s in Spain and Dubai before he signed a 1 year contract with Zastrava Rugby Club and headed out to St Petersburg, Russia.  In September, straight off the plain from the Tokyo Olympics, with a quick stop in Kenya to see his family, he helped the club win the European 7s Club Championships scoring 6 tries including 2 in the final.

No more than 3 weeks later, Willy was back on a plane to play a pivotal role for his national team in the HSBC Canada 7s series in Vancouver and Edmonton where Kenya returned with a silver and bronze medal.
