For our rugby 7s players, the HSBC 7s tour starts the year in Spain on the 21-23rd of January with matches in Malaga and Seville.  A month later, the men 7s players travel to Vancouver and Los Angeles to complete the North American part of the tour.  Asia is next, with matches in Singapore on the 9-10th of April.  The players then return to Europe in May where they play in Toulouse, France and end the series in London on the 28-29th of May. The Rugby 7s World Cup then follows in South Africa in September 2022.  Kenya is currently ranked 32, down from their peak ranking of 22 achieved when they won the 7s series in Singapore in 2016.  The Kenya women's rugby 7s team have unfortunately been left out of the start of the HSBC series but hope to compete at the end of April in Canada.

The Kenya Simbas, the rugby 15s team, are vying for a spot in the Rugby World Cup 2023, hosted by France. Kenya reached the next stage of the qualifying rounds by coming second to Senegal in their group at the Africa Cup qualifying matches in 2021.  They will now have to beat Uganda in July 2022 to progress to the semi-finals.  Only if they win the semi-final match, against either Senegal or Algeria, will they qualify for the World Cup in France.

2022 will be a very busy year for our track and field athletes.  The indoor season starts with competitions in Paris, Manchester and Karlsruhe in January, culminating in the Muller Grand Prix competition in Birmingham in February. The county and regional competitions in Kenya should be completed by mid-April and firm dates will soon be published by Athletics Kenya (AK).  The Kenya National Athletics Championships will be held from the 28-30th of April. The African Championships will take place in Mauritius this year on the 8-12th of June.  Performances here will determine who gets a ticket to the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham UK and the World Championships in Oregon, USA, held back to back in July.  The youth U20 World Athletics Championships will be held in Colombia in August.
